MpFree Wednesday: Luke Rathborne, “I Can Be One”

The buzz surrounding this NYC-via-Maine singer-songwriter just got a lot louder now that the L Magazine anointed him one of its 8 Bands You Need to Hear (and that came after Devendra Banhart declared himself a Rathborne fan).

But the 23-year-old doesn’t have time to get caught up in it all: he also has a day job, running Williamsburg's DIY club Live at the Pyramids with his brother. 

Reminds us of: Rathborne’s music is an exercise in melancholic pop — he broods, but doesn’t get bogged down in it.
