Who: Back when we first mentioned Luke Rathborne, he was about to open for The Strokes and Noah and The Whale and release his double EP Dog Years. The buzz surrounding this NYC-via-Maine singer-songwriter just got a lot louder now that the L Magazine anointed him one of its 8 Bands You Need to Hear (and that came after Devendra Banhart declared himself a Rathborne fan).
But the 23-year-old doesn’t have time to get caught up in it all: he also has a day job, running Williamsburg's DIY club Live at the Pyramids with his brother.
Reminds us of: Rathborne’s music is an exercise in melancholic pop — he broods, but doesn’t get bogged down in it.
