Last-Minute Plan: Ivan & Alyosha @ Mercury Lounge

Rootsy indie pop outfit Ivan & Alyosha are on the River to River schedule for a 5:30 p.m. free set at the World Financial Center. Also on the schedule? Rain, unfortunately, plus the odd thunderstorm. So in anticipation of inclement weather, the forward-thinking folks over at Mercury Lounge have slated Ivan & Alyosha for another free performance, this one mercifully inside.

Doors for the show open at 11:45 p.m., and the band is scheduled to perform at 12:15 a.m.

Ivan & Alyosha are Seattle-based singer-songwriters Tim Wilson and Ryan Carbury, who released their second EP Fathers Be Kind in February.

It’s a gentle, approachable record of acoustic guitar-driven pop music; Wilson’s vocals recall Andrew Bird, over tunes that range from the almost Dylanesque spiritual origin myth “Glorify” to the more propulsive title track that skews closer to a straightforward Wilco jam.

Fathers Be Kind is available for stream and free download over at Ivan & Alyosha’s official website.
