Last-Minute Plan: Free Flying Lotus Show

For those of you who don’t know, Steven Ellison (aka Flying Lotus) is one of the premier producers of bass heavy electronic music.

Some may call it dubstep while others may call it orchestral dance music.

For those of you who DO know, Flying Lotus is a party inducing celebration of beats and musical experimentation.

During last night’s show at the Bowery Ballroom, Ellison along with his two band mates indulged the sold-out crowd with an hour and a half of glitchy rhythms, including samples of Radiohead and Tyler the Creator.

At one point during the show, Flying Lotus teased plans to add another “experimental” and “cheap” show in New York. This morning he’s kept his promise by announcing a free, full-band show at Le Poisson Rouge.

The doors for tonight’s show are set for 11:59 p.m., but we’d advise you queuing much earlier if you want a spot in the room.

If you get squeezed out of tonight’s festivities, you can always sift through Craig’s List for a ticket to Wednesday’s sold out show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg where Flying Lotus will once again be showcasing a number of acts from his label Brainfeeder.
