Sometimes I get worried that all my posts are about my two favorite New York bands. It is nearly impossible for me to refrain from reporting on every piece of news that leaks out of the The Strokes or LCD Soundsystem camps. Monday it was the news of LCD’s farewell show and if you were lucky you scored tickets in today’s presale. Today we are excited to report that The Strokes have released their latest single “Under the Cover of Darkness”, and it is available as a free download via their website.
The latest single is the first output by The Strokes since their 2006 album First Impressions of Earth and will be featured on the upcoming release Angles that is due out on March 22 on RCA and a day earlier in the UK via Rough Trade. “Under the Cover of Darkness” can be streamed on their Myspace page or you can trade some contact information for a download on the bands official website.
While The Strokes have yet to book a show in their hometown, they currently have a few destination shows you may want to consider. On March 12 they are playing the brand new Las Vegas hotel and Casino The Cosmopolitan or if you are looking to get you passport stamped you can check them out at Benicassim in Spain or the Summer Sonic Festival in Japan.
For now I’m going to keep my fingers crossed in the hopes that they will return to New York in a big way. Let’s just hope they don’t keep us waiting too long.
