DJ Shadow

Who says electronica music is dead? Certainly not the organizers of the traveling Identity Festival that lands at Jones Beach on Sunday.

The debut of this rave-fest on wheels with multiple stages, featuring about 20 shows on tap through September, is bringing out loads of our favorite DJs like Steve Aoki, Kaskade, Pretty Lights, Disco Biscuits, Modeselektor, the Crystal Method, DJ Shadow, and many more.

We were pretty stunned and thrilled to see DJ Shadow back on decks after a three and half year absence. Although the Northern California native wasn’t entirely in the shadows during this lull, he did re-release Diminishing Returns (2009), a 120-minute mix of obscure hip-hop tracks.

He’s back in the game due to forth album release The Less You Know, The Better out September 5th in which he says “will sound different from the last one.”  What does that mean? Well if the punchy-military beat from the single  “I Gotta Rokk” is any indication of what the rest of the album will sound like we can’t wait to hear more.

The all-day fest starts at noon with prices varying from $88-$222.
