Earlier this week, the lineup was announced for the 7th annual Mountain Jam taking place at Hunter Mountain in the Northern Catskills from June 2 through June 5. The three-day festival boasts a strong set of headlining acts that includes Gov’t Mule, My Morning Jacket and the Warren Haynes Band. Other standouts on the bill are The Avett Brothers, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes, Mavis Staples, Portugal. the Man and Dawes. Check out the website or the video announcement below for the entire lineup:
Thursday June 2 will serve as a warm up night for all those interested in starting the weekend early. Soulive and Brooklyn’s own The London Souls will kick things off with a late night band to follow that has yet to be announced. Speaking of late night, those of you looking to keep the party going will have options at Hunter Mountain’s Colonel Hall that will include sets by Lotus, The New Deal, 7 Walkers featuring Bill Kreutzmann of the Grateful Dead and more.
While the headlining act has been decided for each evening – Warren Haynes Band on Friday, Gov’t Mule on Saturday and My Morning Jacket on Sunday – the rest of each day’s lineup has yet to be announced. I’m holding my breath to see if the group of artists that best suits my taste is grouped with the Jacket, but if worse comes to worse, the Catskill Mountains is a great place to get away for a weekend, even if you get stuck watching a few hippie bands!
