Tonight: John Lennon Biopic Nowhere Boy, Urge Overkill returns…

  • Get a sneak peek of the Yoko-approved John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy, which profiles the musician’s troubled Liverpool youth, at the Paley Center—the same week the musician would have turned 70—after dazzling audiences on the festival circuit since late last year. Members of Lennon’s first band the Quarrymen will perform post-screening. 7PM.
  • Part bombshell, part vaudevillian, part revolutionary, the Aussie alt-cabaret envelope-pusher Meow Meow—fresh off of playing two dates with Amanda Palmer, which should’ve you a sense of what to expect if you haven’t seen her live—comes to Joe’s Pub for the first of three shows. 9:30PM.
  • If you were panting with excitement on 9/19, when local station WRXP-FM played on air the first new Urge Overkill song in 15 years (Effigy), you probably already have tickets to tonight’s Mercury Lounge show from the on-again, off-again Chicago band. 7PM.
