Charlotte Ronson Says She Finds “It” Girl Moniker Flattering

Charlotte Ronson, the London-born, New York-based designer, has often been dubbed an "It" girl, a term the stylish socialite said she finds flattering.

"I think that's a very flattering term," Ronson told Niteside last week at the Paper Magazine Annual Nightlife Awards. "I don't always know what it means."

The NYU alum and sister of Lindsay Lohan's ex-girlfriend, Sam, took home the Best Designer with Nightlife Influence Award last Thursday, besting the likes of Timo Weiland, Opening Ceremony and Madonna's Material Girl.

“It’s nice. It’s kind of my first award," said Ronson, who was eager to be acknowledged for her work and not just her cool-chick status. "I got an award from the Humane Society too, but this is the first one where [I had] to make a speech.”

"I wasn't really expecting it. It's a pleasant surprise."

Ronson said she's working on her Fall collection and her upcoming line for JCPenney. She said she's not even sure what she has in store for the runway in February.

"It's a big surprise," she said. "I don't even know what I'm expecting."

About fellow designers, she added, “Everyone’s doing their thing, working hard. It’s a lot of work for anyone."
