New Yorkers of all ages and abilities will be able to run freely along beautiful Fifth Avenue on Saturday.
To celebrate the Fifth Avenue Mile’s 30th anniversary, some of the world’s fastest professional athletes will be seen running along the 20-block stretch -- between the Met and the Grand Army Plaza.
Saturday also is Worldwide Day of Play, so there will be free children’s events – including relay races, parachute games and hula hoop contests. The event’s sponsor, New York Road Runners, is organizing a youth heat for children ages 8-14.
The Fifth Avenue Mile and Worldwide Day of Play will take place between 9:30 a.m. and noon near 60th Street and the Grand Army Plaza.
