Heidi Klum Runs All Over New York City

In case you haven't been keeping up with online tabloids with embarrassing voracity (ahem), you may have missed supermodel Heidi Klum getting her fit on all over New York City.

Part of her AOL Summer Run campaign, the 38-year-old mom of four has been hitting the streets nearly every day since late June to work out with celebrity friends. She blogs about her runs and shares tips and motivation tools on her AOL page -- and even shares photos and video of her workouts with pals like Kim Kardashian, Brooklyn Decker, Michael Kors and Russell Simmons.

While she sure looks fit, Klum doesn't shy away from sharing her struggles, and how she's found ways to overcome them. Two of the tips she offered in a June 28 entry:

Run With a Buddy
This really sunk in this weekend. When I don't have to go to work, its so much easier to hit snooze on the alarm or hang out with the kids in our pajamas. I had friends to run with both Saturday and Sunday this weekend. I couldn't leave them hanging at 7AM, so I had to get up!

Set a Goal
When I start running in the summer, I can't just jump into running the whole way! I set goals for myself. For example, I start by running a mile and walking a mile, or running two miles and walking half a mile, always building up as I progress. If you are running in your neighborhood, go one mailbox or one house further each day. It really helps to build up your endurance!

In this video from her July 12 entry, Heidi and model and actress Brooklyn Decker (who's also married to tennis star Andy Roddick) talk about how much they enjoy running in the cities they travel to because it's a good way to sightsee.

"People always say, 'You go to all these amazing places, you must know all those cities,' but we never really do," agreed Heidi. "Because we go in, we do what we gotta do, get on the next plane, and go on to the next location."

"And you never have time for working out, and you never have time to sightsee, so for me it was kind of my way to see places," added Brooklyn. "And plus I like being outdoors -- I mean, Manhattan, there's not a lot of outdoor stuff, but you can run on the bridge, stuff like that. You can find fun things to do around here."

"Or the West Side Highway," said Heidi. "I love to run on the West Side Highway."

You can participate in her Summer Run on her AOL page; she's aiming for her Summer Run Team to amass 100,000 miles run or walked by July 25 (they're at 15,657 miles as of July 12).
