Erin Wasson Gives Her Clothes Away

Yet another sign of the fashion apocalypse? Or just a slightly bizarre event wrapped in eco-consciousness and charity?

One way or another, model Erin Wasson (of former-muse-of-Alexander-Wang and RCVA designer fame) hosted a garage sale this past Saturday at her boyfriend's store in Venice Beach, Rogue Status. As Wasson explained, "My style has gotten a lot simpler and now that I'm designing, I want to wear my own stuff."

Well, that certainly makes sense in a "I'm a model and thus have unlimited access to clothing anyway" kind of way, but we're not sure we would have been able to part with the kinds of pieces Wasson was giving away for under $100: We hear there were pieces from heavy-hitters like Chanel and Balenciaga, as well as a massive stockpile of Marc Jacobs clothing from back in the day. That stuff's legendary!

While we might not understand it, Wasson clearly has her reasons. For one, all the proceeds went to the Best Friends Animal Charity, which runs a shelter for abandoned and abused animals; and for another, Stylefile points out that "used clothes are the ultimate in eco-chic."

But lest we all forget: this is the same Erin Wasson who once told Nylon that the homeless people in her neighborhood are the ones that really had the best style. She's been known to do some wild things in the past.
