Eat It: 2nd Annual 3rd Ward Pig Roast & Dance Party

This Sunday, Marlow & Sons’ Tom Mylan turns 200 lbs. of pig into tasty pork tacos under the Brooklyn sun. Who’s in?

Last year’s inaugural pig roast at Williamsburg’s 3rd Ward was a heady affair involving a 197-lb. pig from Mario and Son’s Italian meats, a makeshift roasting pit crafted of cinder blocks, seven straight hours of roasting by rockstar butcher Tom Mylan (Marlow & Sons, Diner) -- including constant basting with a salsa roja involving Mexican chilis and garlic -- while live bands played, drinks were quaffed, and, finally, delectable pork tacos were consumed.

Whew.

So clearly, you don’t want to miss the 2nd Annual Pig Roast & Dance Party this Sunday, brought to you by 3rd Ward and Brooklyn Based. Return guests include Mylan himself (plus chef Eric Sherman), who’ll transform another impressive 200-lb. porker into tacos for all as the Brooklyn sun beats down on throngs of hungry carnivores. Soundtrack to the day comes courtesy of bands like the poppy Shilpa and her Happy Hookers and the always drunk-seeming Stumblebum Brass Band. See you there!
