The first day of one of the biggest sample sales of the season started at 2PM today, and we're already getting reports from inside the event.

Sadly, the reviews are a little mixed. Our erstwhile reporter actually left the sale (deep breath) without buying anything. The verdict? Most of the pieces she wanted were still too expensive (some dresses ran close to $400, which doesn't exactly scream "sample sale"), and there isn't the "one showstopper item" this year that stalked last year's sales (a.k.a. the leather vests, corset skirts, and dresses).

Racked also reported on the price, complaining, "The cheapest item we've seen thus far are the $80 silk tanks." As in, the sweatshorts are $115. Ouch.

That said, there does still seem to be a serious amount of stock. There are the blazers -- bright pink and blue, as well as black, and, of course, the racerback cotton tanks. Then there are more than a few of his white one-shoulder dresses, black silk shorts, and one sheer racerback dress with soft purple stripes.

If you decide to forgo the sale (or are just looking for more eye candy), get a glimpse of what's to come with Wang's Fall 2009 accessories collection. Spoiler alert: there are boots!
