Popular wisdom seems to hold that people feel one of two ways about karaoke: Either they think it’s an abomination of nature, or they’re deep in the tank for it and starved for outlets in which to engage in it.

Good news for the latter group: The old Polly Esther’s space on West 4th Street has just been converted to Karaoke Boho, opened by the people behind the crazy popular E.V. karaoke joint Sing Sing. There’s no liquor license yet (give it a few weeks), but until then you can b.y.o. More importantly, Boho has 20 karaoke suites, meaning you can invite 40 of your closest friends and literally recreate “We Are the World” (or “He Needs a Kidney”, also a fun choice) in the privacy of your own room. For karaoke exhibitionists (you know who you are), it’s also possible to belt at the bar.

Plan ahead: Karaoke Boho’s website lists its 2000-track songbook, while this Grub Street slideshow gives you a look around the place, so you can see which backdrop would best serve your patented “Don't Stop Believin'” showstopper.

Karaoke Boho, 186 West 4th Street; 212-255-0011.
