Consider the highbrowification of ground beef complete: At this Saturday’s art show, hear lines like “This burger conveys a sense of motion.”

Save this Saturday for a show of “artwork and conceptual hamburgers” at the Laundromat Gallery in Brooklyn, where real live artists will converge, grill, and stroke their chins in thought about the meaning of a double-patty. The nine Laundromat artists-in-residence promise “an evening of multi-sensory fun,” which starts squarely with the artists’ statements. To wit:
The Bernini Burger: Crafted in honor of the 17th century Italian Baroque sculptor Gianlorenzo Bernini, this burger conveys a sense of motion, the suppleness of its materials and a dramatic flair. A beef patty, fleshy and rounded, surmounted by flowing draperies of prosciutto, a cloud of goat cheese, and a splash of the finest extra virgin olive oil. St. Teresa herself never felt such an ecstasy as this burger will provide.
So there you have it: Goat cheese clouds in an art gallery. And yes, you’ll be able to eat the exhibits. Hipster hilarity, or serious statement on NYC’s current spate of fetishized gourmet burgers? And can a Bacon Art Show be far behind?
