Yankees Open Up Stadium for Viewing Party

Root, root, root for the away team

Here's a good reason to leave early or just take the whole day off: The Yankees are throwing a house party.

The Bombers will open the Stadium up to the public, for free, Monday afternoon so that fans can watch the game three of the ALCS, broadcast from Anaheim, California.

"We wanted to provide a place for our fans to come together to cheer for our team even if the game itself is taking place across the country," team managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner, son of George, said in a press release. "This is a way of of saying thank you for their continued support."

Turnstiles between gates 4 and 6 will open at 3:30 p.m. for the 4:13 p.m. game. Fans will be able to watch in the Great Hall or on the Field Level. Food and concession stands, as well as the NYY Steak restaurant and the Hard Rock Cafe will be open as well.

Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. played a part in getting the Yankees to open the stadium for the game.

"I hope that people from all over the city will come out to cheer for the Yankees and share in what's sure to be a great night right here in the Bronx," Diaz said in the release.

There is no word yet on the plan for games 4 and 5.
