Folks, we’re looking at Google weather for Saturday and we see a bright yellow ball. That’s right: The sun is due to make a highly-anticipated guest appearance in the city this weekend, and we suggest celebrating by digging out your swimsuit and splashing about in one of the nine free swimming pools that’ll open for the season on Saturday, June 27.

From the East Village to the Bronx, from the Lower East Side to Red Hook, NYC’s got a pool near you (yes, there’s even one in Astoria). And in case we haven’t insisted on this one point yet, admission is free. Get there early and bask in the sunshine (with SPF 50, of course). Ladies, you have two days in which to wax.

For more information on NYC’s swimming pools, head to nycgo.com – just be sure to check out the pool rules (no newspaper! no flip-flops!) first.
