Funny that people at the Yossi Milo Gallery decided to call their new exhibit of photographs Sexy and the City –- the reference is obvious, but the best images in the group show were snapped long before Carrie et al. sanitized (and merchandized) much of NYC’s sensuality and sleaze.

Iconic and less well-known pictures from the likes of Diane Arbus, Joel Meyerowitz, Bruce Davidson, Weegee, and Nan Goldin capture moments of innocent desire, sexual identity and flirting with danger in vignettes taken between the 1940s to the present day:

From Alfred Eisenstaedt’s iconic image of a kissing couple in Times Square on V-J Day, 1945, to Nan Goldin’s drag queen on an anonymous New York street in the 1990s, from Garry Winogrand’s topless woman surrounded by a crowd in Central Park to the homosexual couples photographed by Alvin Baltrop in the seclusion of the West Side piers, Sexy and the City celebrates diverse views of New York City passion.

Go see the show with someone you love –- or someone you just want to get into the pants of.

          Um, No: Tinsley Mortimer

Always taking style to the next level, socialite Tinsley Mortimer took the alarming trend of frothy, flowery embellishments and added some extra tiers. The result, alas, is more cake than fashion.
